Regen District regional management

The regional management has been active in the Regen District since September 2008. For a long time, the Regen District has been highly engaged in various agenda work groups. Various topical areas are discussed in active group work, ranging from the economy, tourism, energy and transport to social issues, youth policies and education, art and culture.

A wide range of sectors is regarded as crucial to economic success. Therefore, a broadly ranged, medium-sized spectrum of industry, crafts, trade and services creates the heart of the economic area. Traditionally, the glass- and wood-processing industries are located here. In addition, plastics- and wood-related businesses, electrical engineering as well as metal and vehicle construction make a significant contribution to the multi-layered range of mainly small- and medium-sized companies. Tourism is, in addition, also an important basis of the regional economic power.

Attractive economic region

The attractiveness of the economic region is characterized by sufficient qualifi jobs and relevant offers in training and further education. Supported by intact social structures, a strong transport and communication infrastructure as well as attractive culture and leisure offers, these are the requirements to bind young families to the region. The aim is to secure the region as a centre of living and working in the long term.

The people in the region are hard working, active and down to earth. Employees and employers are very loyal to their companies.

The district plans to position itself, in the long term, as a technology region, innovation region and tourism region.

Regen - Bavarias' region of the year 2009

The attractiveness of the location and the innovation power of the Regen District is reflected in the businesses and research institutions found here: the new technology campus of the Deggendorf College in Teisnach bundles competence in the areas of optical technologies, process development and optimisation, measurement technology and production technology. In addition to establishing a range of course offerings at the Teisnach site, the focus will be on supporting and advising companies in the area of applied research and development. Established companies, such as Rohde & Schwarz (Teisnach), Rehau (Viechtach) or Zwiesel Kristallglas AG (Zwiesel), also benefit from this. Entrepreneurs benefit in the Regen District in a particular way: in February 2008, the Regen start-up agency opened for business. Free workshops are offered for entrepreneurs.  It is no surprise that the Regen District was voted "Bavaria's region of the year 2009"!
