AIKAA-Chemicals GmbH
For the development of drugs or the area of agrochemistry, chiral compounds are often needed. Some 80% of pharmaceuticals in the product pipeline, for instance, are chiral. This results in a consistently growing need for optically active intermediates, which include chiral amines, alcohols or acids. The asymmetrical catalysis represents the key technology to a direct and efficient synthesis of such compounds.
AIKAA-Chemicals GmbH, established in October 2008 by Prof Rhett Kempe and Dr Torsten Irrgang as a start-up of the University of Bayreuth, develops and produces new chiral catalyser technologies for asymmetrical synthesis. These innovative technologies are new, efficient and highly selective catalyser classes. They are extremely cost-efficient, as they are easy to produce and use and do not produce any unwanted waste. These catalysers are generated modularly (Lego principle) from air- and humidity-resistant components, i.e., in the process. Our comprehensive ligand/catalyser libraries allow us to find a screening which is effective in respect of customer requirements and new substrates, in order to obtain optimum solutions.
AIKAA-Chemicals also uses its proprietary catalysers and methods, for which patents have been applied, in semi-industrial production of chiral alcohols and amines as building blocks, i.e., for the health and life sciences industry. Our low-cost and high-performance catalysers are the key to an economically and ecologically optimised value added network.
Based on a comprehensive synthesis chemical and catalytic know-how, we are your experts for efficient development of processes and products, and thus launch them in the market faster.
