Cluster internationalisation
With an above-average export rate, the Bavarian chemical industry is internationally well connected; in particular small- and medium-sized companies have occupied highly attractive global niche markets over the past years. The international networking of Chemie-Cluster Bayern is therefore an important tool to achieve an additional competitive edge for SMEs in particular and boosting innovation power with foreign know-how.
The Federal Ministry for Education and Research supports a close cooperation between Chemie-Cluster Bayern and the French chemistry cluster Axelera (Lyon region; www.axelera.org), which represents French core competence in the area of chemistry and environmental protection as Pôle De Compétitivité. In the market fields of:
- chemical innovations for the improvement of the quality of life
- environmental protection and biodiversity
- optimised product lifecycles/recycling
- green chemistry
- factory of the future (environmental protection and sustainable production methods).
Both clusters develop, through events and staff-exchange, a joint measures schedule in order to secure a European competitive edge for its partners.
Chemie-Cluster Bayern has concluded further partnerships with the Wroclaw research centre EIT+ as well as the Polish R&D foundation Nanonet; networks are managed at key markets in Asia, the U.S. and the whole EECA region.
Internationalisation of the cluster is being expanded further. The cluster:
- is linked with international leading clusters and competence centres
- promotes business and R&D cooperation in collaboration with Invest in Bavaria and Germany Trade and Invest
- supports international sales and marketing activities.
