LEONI ist ein weltweit aktiver System- und Entwicklungslieferant für Draht, Kabel und Bordnetz-Systeme. Mit mehr als 35.000 Mitarbeitern an rund 80 Standorten erzielt die im deutschen MDAX notierte Unternehmensgruppe einen Konzernumsatz von mehr als 2 Mrd. Euro. Hauptkunde ist die Automobilindustrie, für LEONI technisch anspruchsvolle Produkte entwickelt und produziert: von der einadrigen Fahrzeugleitung bis zum kompletten Bordnetz-System mit integrierter Elektronik.
In der Zentralen Forschung und Entwicklung (ZFE) mit dem Standort Langwasser werden, losgelöst vom operativen Tagesgeschäft der einzelnen Unternehmensbereiche und unabhängig von den Kernkompetenzen der LEONI-Gruppe, neue Produkte und Technologien entwickelt ("Flamecon®, optische Sensorik - elastomere Lichtleitfasern; "icefuel®").

The pricipal customer base is the automotive industry, for which LEONI develops and produces technically sophisticated goods: from single-core automitive cables to complete wiring systems with integrated electonics.
In the central research & development located in Langwasser near Nuernberg, new products an technologies as "Flamecon®, optical sensoric - elastomeric light fibers and "icefuel®" are developed, detached from day-to-day business of the LEONI-group.
