Profil

The Lyon Rhône-Alpes Chemicals and Environment competitive cluster is the result of local players in industry, training and research in the fields of chemicals and the environment joining together around a shared visi
"to facilitate the construction of a global industrial and scientific network that combines chemistry and environment."

The AXELERA association was created in 2005 by the cluster's founding members: Arkema, Rhodia, GDF SUEZ (groups), IFP a world-class public sector research and training center and CNRS a government funded research organization. The activities of the cluster, which has more than 160 members to date, are based on five strategic themes focusing on 8 target markets: Chemistry for societal issues (Durable Building, Renewable energies, Automotive, Electronic), Protection of natural areas (Water, Air, Soil, Agri-Agro-chemistry), Materials recyclability (Waste, recycling and materials), Green Chemistry (Bioressources), The factory of the Future (Clean processes)Axelera is a catalyst that stimulates innovation through R&D programmes (11 R&D programmes coordinated by the cluster) and the services provided by the cluster enable SMEs to work closely with major technological programmes, benefit from a dynamic network and customised assistance and promote their expertise.

Produkt/ Service

The AXELERA Strategy is based on 5 key themes:
  1. Chemistry for societal issues
Chemistry as a catalyst for innovative progress in the widest sense in order to improve man's quality of life and well-being while respecting the environment: materials, health, clean energy and information technologies.
  2. Protection of natural areas
Biodiversity, focusing on soils and bodies of water
  3. Material recyclability
Developing processes with zero waste materials and increased recyclability in order to limit use of raw material resources and recycle all materials at the end of their life cycle.
  4. Green Chemistry
Green chemistry and, in particular, the use of renewable resources.
  5. The factory of the future
Defining the factory of the future, focusing on micro technologies, materials and products with an environmentally-friendly design, energy and environmental efficiency.
